About Me

I BOUGHT MY FIRST GRAHAM PAIGE FROM MY GRAND FATHER, WHO DIDN'T DRIVE BUT MY UNCLE DROVE THE FAMILY ABOUT. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN 1953, I WAS 17. IT WAS SECOND HAND WHEN MY UNCLE BOUGHT IT TO REPLACE ANOTHER 1929 612 THAT HAD BEEN DAMAGED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A TAXI CAB. THE GRAHAM WAS BEING DRIVEN BY MY COUSIN , HE WAS 6 YEARS OLDER THAN ME AND THE TAXI WAS DRIVEN BY HIS BEST FRIEND, NOT A HAPPY GET TOGETHER! IT WAS MY EVERY DAY CAR TILL ABOUT 1959 WHEN I BOUGHT A 1935 , 8 CYL AUBURN( I STILL HAVE IT) IN THE SAME PERIOD I BOUGHT A 1934 GRAHAM SUPERCHARGED COUPE COMPLETE BUT NOT RUNNING , IN NICE CONDITION, SOLD IT UNFORTUNATLY AND HAS DISAPPEARED IT WOULD SEEM OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

MY FIRST SPIRIT OF MOTION 1938 SUPERCHARGED SEDAN, SN.141552 I BOUGHT IN ABOUT 1964 FROM A WIDOW THAT HAD MOVED FROM SYDNEY TO KATOOMBA MY HOME TOWN , IT IS IN STORAGE STILL HAS ALL THE ORIGINAL TRIM IN IT AND 60, ODD THOUSAND MILES ON IT.

THE SECOND ONE THAT I H AVE I BOUGHT IN ABOUT 1970, IT BELONGED TO THE CHEIF DESIGN ENGIEER FOR THE AUSTRALIAN NAVY DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR AND REPORTEDLY FROM HIM IT HAD DONE WELL I EXCESS OF 350,000 MILES, WHEN I CHECKED THE SN. IT WAS141551!! ROLLED OF THE LINE TOGETHER. BOTH SUPERCHAGED AN DTHESE CARS WERE USED BY ME AS EVERY DAY TRANSPORT OVER THE YEARS, AND 141551 HAS RECENTLY TAKEN PART IN OUR BIANNUAL RALLY IN BALLARAT IN VICTORIA.ALL BEING WELL IT WILL GO TO THE NEXT ONE IN 2014 IN ADELAIDE SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO MY SON AND I BOUGHT ANOTHER SHARKNOSE THAT HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR ABOUT 40 YEARS, LOVELY STRAIGHT BODY AND NICE INTERIOR, PRIOR TO BEING TAKEN OFF THE ROAD IT HAD BEEN FITTED WITH A SIDE VALVE FORD RUNNING GEAR AND A FALCON DIFF. THIS IS A STANDARD CAR AND ALL OF THESE HAVE BEEN IN AUSTRALIA SINCE NEW.

YOURS IN THE SPIRIT OF MOTION,

          DOWN UNDER,

          ROSS MC RAE.

Yes it's supercharged. The car is in good shape. The interior needs a little help. my father in law's one that actually owns it looking to sell the vehicle now.

MY FIRST SHARKNOSE MUST HAVE BEEN IN A COLLISION AND WHEN I BOUGHT IT THE FRONT FENDERS OR MUD GUARDS AS WE CALL THEM HAD BEEN FITTED WITH ROUND HEAD LIGHTS AND ALL TRACES OF THE ORIGINAL SHAPE HAD BEEN REMOVED. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS MAGIC WITH METAL AND I ASKED HIM IF HE WOULD BE INTERSTED IN BRINGING THEM BACK TO ORIGINAL. HE DID THIS AND THIS WEEK WE TRIAL FITTED THEM,THE LEFT HAND GUARD WAS SO BADLY DAMAGED IN THE CRASH THAT IT WAS EASIER FOR HIM TO MAKE COMPLETE NEW MAJOR SECTIONS AND OF COURSE THAT SECTION HOLDING THE ORIGINAL LIGHTS ON BOTH FENDERS AND THE FINE PRESSINGS FOR THE SIDE CHROME PIECES WAS MISSING, HE REPLICATED THAT EXACTLY ALL IN METAL NO BOG. WHEN I LOOK AT THEM I CAN'T BELIEVE THE ARE THE SAME FENDERS, I MUST ADD THAT I STARTED TO PAINT IT IN 1967?? OR THERE ABOUTS AND THEN I BORROWED BITS TO KEEP THE OTHER ONE ON THE ROAD. MY IDEA IS TO NOT RESTORE IT, BUT NATURALLY WILL HAVE TO STRIP PAINT OFF AND PAINT , ENGINE IS BORED SO REASSEMBLE AND GET IT DRIVEABLE. ONLY HOPE I LIVE LONG ENOUGH AS THERE IS AT LEAST 3 OTHER CARS TO DO. AT LEAST A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION HAS BEEN MADE.
